Valve repair via the Coronary Sinus

Minimal invasive or even percutaneous valve repair gets more momemtum in recent days. Several companies are working on attractive instrumentation and devices to achieve this goal. The knowledge on the anatomy and pathophysiology of the Coronary sinus is an important pre-requisite of such devices.

The Society of Coronary Sinus Interventions is currently working to structure necessary parameters including the nomenclature of angiographic anatomy, facts on the catheterisation of the coronary sinus as well as for a successful deployment of such devices.

We feel that extensive preclinical testing is necessary to avoid potential problems encountered in the recent past with new devices in the coronary venous system.
